I had the chance to meet Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli at a local business event, and we connected almost immediately over our shared experiences as military families.
His son, Sam Wehrli, serves as a paratrooper and Field Artillery Officer with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne, and I previously served as a Nuclear Specialist with the Army’s 327th Military Police Battalion.
It was a meaningful reminder of how military service shapes leadership, resilience, and a strong sense of community—both in uniform and in civic life.
